Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop stars: an artist who was able to successfully cross the divide between pop and country music while sweeping the globe. Swift left her country roots as though they were part of her skin to reveal that she was perhaps the savviest populist singer/songwriter of her generation one that could tap into the zeitgeist make it personal and also perform the reverse. Swift's early songs, including the neo song in tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. The album from 2008 Fearless showcased a writer who was beginning to discover herself, and was able to draw a wide audience. The album was hugely successful not just in America, where six of its singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across all over the world. Swift managed to build upon her progress through Speak Now almost two year later. Swift's popularity continued to grow through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) -- and found her moving assuredly into a pop realm in which she was already a part. Although she slowed down the production of her folklore album, and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was nevertheless in the forefront of pop music.
